Speakers include: Chris King - Esquires Coffee Houses (Fair Trade in business), Chris Morrison - founder of Phoenix Organics (Fair Trade and sustainable business), Steve Knapp - Director FTAANZ (Fair Trade and the Fairtrade labelling system), Maria Trogolo - Project Manager FTAANZ (Fair Trade in the Asia Pacific) and Will Padilla - AgriCoop Costa Rica(Fairtrade impacts on producer communities).

Details: Black Gold is a persuasive and sobering investigation of the world coffee trade, from the hype and glitz of the World Barista Championships to the Ethiopian farmers who grow the world’s finest coffee beans yet live in near starvation. The film follows the travels of Tadesse Meskela, manager of the Oromia coffee co-operative which represents more than 70,000 Ethiopian coffee farmers, as he searches for a fairer price for coffee.
The 78 minute film will be followed by a discussion with fair trade advocates including Will Padilla (producer from a Costa Rican cooperative), Barry Coates (Oxfam Director), Caroline Warwick (Scarborough Fair) and Nandor Tanczos (Green Party MP).

Event Title: Oxfam Fundraise for World Fairtrade Day with coffee, tea and hot chocolate

When: Saturday May 12th, 10am - 3pm
Details: This is for World Fairtrade Day to raise awareness and introduce people to support fairtrade coffee and tea new at Harvest. Coffee from Zigana, tea from Scarborough Fair, hot chocolate from Trade Aid will be available to buy by donation. Proceeds go to Oxfam to support their projects.
