Making Wellington Fair
Media release for immediate release
Half way there; half way to FAIR! Wellington’s quest to become a Fair Trade City is gathering momentum and support with over 1000 signatures on the e-petition, hundreds of cars sporting Make Wellington Fair bumper stickers and growing business commitment.
Before August 7th Wellingtonians need to make time to demonstrate what it is that sets them apart from the rest of the country: that they are leading the way and at the forefront of a global movement. One that guarantees a fair and equitable price for sustainable production for farmers in the developing world.
We need Wellingtonians to show their support by signing the e-petition, going in to any café serving Fairtrade Certified coffee or the Trade Aid shop to grab a bumper sticker to slap on their car, use Fairtrade Certified products at your workplace, school, church, club or community group and register this with FTAANZ.
Since the launch in May, over 20 businesses, a number of faith groups and three parliament offices have committed to drinking, using, eating and supporting Fairtrade with many more in the process of signing up.
“It’s great to see a cross section of the Wellington community motioning and working together in order to strive for such an honorable achievement,” says Steve Knapp Executive Director of FTAANZ.
Look out for the label and support your Wellington to become the first FT city.
