National Australia Bank Hosts Australia’s Largest Fairtrade Coffee Break

The National Australia Bank (NAB) has hosted Australia’s Largest Fairtrade Coffee Break as part of Fair Trade Fortnight 2010.

NAB’s Fairtrade Coffee Break was held over four days, starting from May 4, across six sites (including its main offices in Sydney and Melbourne) and aimed to reach over 10 000 staff. 

As part of their Fairtrade Coffee Breaks, NAB not only celebrated their status as Australia’s Largest Fair Trade Workplace but welcomed the Big Swap to fair trade by their counterpart the Bank of New Zealand as well as NAB’s extension of their commitment in Australia to now include Fairtrade Certified hot chocolate and sugar.

NAB’s Big Swap means that its 25,000 staff will now consume Fairtrade Certified instant coffee, hot chocolate and sugar from Jasper Coffee and Scarborough Fair black and green teas across their 8000 tea rooms.

That's a massive swap and will directly benefit Fairtrade cocoa famers in the Dominican Republic, Fairtrade sugar farmers in Paraguay, Fairtrade coffee farmers in Colombia and Fairtrade tea workers in Sri Lanka.
