One Colour is a Brisbane based social enterprise founded to see an end to extreme poverty. Since 2007 we have worked with our partners in Kenya to build a strong foundation for growth through ethical trade practices. Annual trips to Kenya strengthen ties with our Kenyan partners, and help focus our resolve to create better economic opportunities for them.
Since 2011, One Colour has been the Aust & NZ distributor for the Kenana Knitters. Kenana Knitters is a rural based Kenyan organisation assisting women to change their lives stitch by stitch through the sale of their original and creative hand knitted animals. Along with the knitter critters, we collaborate in Australia to design a range of women’s wear, made by the Viva Africa team in Kenya. Viva Africa seeks for provide long term employment for their tailors and One Colour has been associated with them since 2008. In 2014 One Colour began wholesaling a range of hand loom scarves by Helping Hands, an income generation project, and selling select hand-crafted pieces by Kenyan artisan, Sammy Semat, and his team.
As a wholesaler we attend the AGHA Home & Giving fair in Melbourne & Sydney. Over the years Di Stitt, founder, has had the privilege of sharing the real life stories of her partners at Qld University of Technology and other local events.
One Colour has been a member of the Fair Trade Association since 2006. One Colour is a member of the Ethical Fashion Forum and Di Sitt is an Associate Fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs. Di is also part of Clean Cut Fashion Association, heading up their community liaison department.
