Rosemary Frank : Chair
Owner of Afribeads:
Rosemary Frank runs a successful fair trade enterprise called AfriBeads, supporting artisans in Uganda. She started up the NSW Fair Trade Network Group that provides networking events and promotes fair trade in the NSW community.
Rosemary began her career as a scientist in haematology and worked in hospitals in Sydney and Wollongong for 10 years. Following a trip overseas she moved into education teaching English as a foreign language in an English College in Sydney becoming the Head Teacher and later the Director of Studies.
This background has helped her immensely in developing an awareness of social justice. During a trip overseas to Uganda she was introduced to the Kind Mother’s Project and decided she wanted to create something that would empower African women. AfriBeads helps these women to be self-sufficient by providing a market in Australia for the products they make.
When not involved with AfriBeads or attending networking events she is busy with her family of her husband and 2 adult sons.
Anna Spoore: Vice Chair
Owner of Uplift Fair Trade
Anna has owned a Fair Trade business for the past 6 years and currently runs Uplift Fair trade http://upliftfairtrade.com.au/ and Change Threads http://www.changethreads.com.au/ from the lower Blue Mountains in Western Sydney.
She brings an extensive knowledge of all labelling systems and attended the 2016 WTFO AGM in Milan. She has strong collaborative connections with Fair Traders across Australia and NZ and facilitated the process of Goulburn becoming a Fair Trade city. She is a regular guest speaker at events to raise awareness of Fair Trade. She has strong connections with many NGO’s including Stop the Traffik, Baptist World Aid and TEAR. She has also developed a Fair Trade education programs for schools.
Andy Good: Treasurer
Andy has been involved with fair trade since 1984 when he founded a fair trade certified food distributor, Equal Exchange UK, and was the Managing Director until 2012. In addition he co-founded CafeDirect in 1994 together with Oxfam GB and Traidcraft, and Liberation Foods in 2004. He was also a board member of One World Shop Edinburgh from 1990–2002, and a Board member of WFTO from 1998-2000.
He brings a global perspective and combines extensive supply chain and marketing experience with a passion for empowering farmers and artisans.
He lives in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, keeps goats, ducks and bees and currently works as Social Auditor for WFTO Guarantee system and Original Eumundi Markets and is the Chair of the Sunshine Coast Roasters Guild.
Owner Interior Trading Co
Kelly works with women’s groups and non-government organizations in Cambodia making water hyacinth baskets and home wares.
In her working life she has been a project manager with community groups for social justice and environmental programs, co-owned an ecological restoration company and currently teaches conservation and land management for TAFE NSW. She is based on the south coast of NSW.
Nicole Lamond: Secretary
Director of Universal Village
Nicole is the Director of Universal Village, a fair trade company based in Melbourne that imports and markets fair trade Qi Tea.
Nicole was a founding board member of the Fair Trade Association in 2002. She brings marketing, financial and strategic planning skills to the Executive Committee.
Owner Serendipity Fair Trade Shop
Linda has been an active advocate in the promotion of the Fair Trade Movement for over 15 years. She has been part of many groups helping develop promotions of the fair trade movement, initially from her home church St Stephens on the Northern Beaches in Sydney and working with the Body Shop. She started working with the Fair Trade Association in 2006.
In the last few years she has been an active founding member of the Forest Justice Project.
Linda’s vision has always been to respect the peace and security of producers who in many countries are so mistreated. She sees herself as an advocate for the producer and to empower the consumer to make educated, ethical choices.
In Linda’s has over 20 years’ experience in the travel industry working for both airlines and ground operators where she has gathered a wealth of administration, customer service and computer systems skills. She has organized many trips for Fair Traders to meet their producers in the Indian Sub-Continent and South East Asia.
Barton is based in Sydney and has run the Elephant Emporium with his wife, Leonie, since 2007.
He has extensive sales and retail experience in medium to large multi-national corporations including National and GM. He has experience in management and negotiating supply terms with government and corporations.
His passion for fair trade started with a love of travel and visiting communities in SE Asia, and their social enterprise has developed strong relationships with artisan groups in Vietnam and Cambodia.
Rob comes to the FTAANZ Executive with a passion to support fair trade throughout the world. Through his experience as a professional electrical engineer, he feels that he can bring organisational and business skills to assist the FTAANZ function as a professional organisation in the wider community.
By telling people about the possibilities of fair trade dealing, I am helping the FTAANZ to communicate and encourage the individual businesses as well as being strong advocates of the cause. He is also a professional performer of magic and ventriloquism and this gives him skills to communicate with many different people
